Podcast: Keep rolling forward
Guests:
Melissa Blackwood is the founder and Executive Director of Roller Girl Gang, a Yorkshire-based roller-skating business that holds regular classes in addition to owning a physical bricks and mortar shop selling skating equipment.
Melissa’s transition to a full-time business owner from her previous role as a teacher was gradual. Melissa explains how having the courage to step out of her comfort zone led to a boost in her confidence, and ultimately propelled Roller Girl Gang to new heights.
While the business has won awards and been acknowledged for their innovative approach as a unique retailer, Melissa has also had had to navigate the challenges of running a financially successful business that is also purpose led.
In this episode, Jonathan speaks with Mellissa who gives an honest account of some of the hardships she’s faced as a confident business leader and how she has worked to marry the two different sides of her business.
