Podcast: Laying the groundwork for success
In this episode of the Help to Grow: Management Podcast, host Denise Nurse is joined by Richard Sadler, co-founder and Director of CJC Aggregates and Landscaping Supplies.
CJC was founded by Richard and his childhood friend Colin, the two having spent their formative years on farms in Worcester. Richard and Colin walked very different career paths prior to founding the business, Richard in corporate buying and sales, and Colin a farm owner.
The two joined up in 2020 when they ‘accidentally’ founded the business following Colin propositioning Richard to sell surplus supplies found on the farm. While there was a local demand for wood and stone, Richard had no prior experience running a business.
During their conversation, Richard and Denise discuss the sharp learning curve of business ownership, managing a team for the first time, and how to get hold of your numbers.
