Changing the face of leadership: become a better leader
What do you believe a successful leader looks like? Is leadership success really measurable? Is your business operating at its full potential?
Join us in Belfast at our interactive workshop, where you will hear from leadership expert, Blaire Palmer. Drawing on her experience of delivering leadership development and culture change programmes, Blaire will present her insights on leadership, which focus on building human connection, trust, empowerment and continual innovation. Learn how to build a team of like-minded people, gain new knowledge, and cultivate change within your business.
You will also have the opportunity to collaborate and hear from the experiences of your peers. Be prepared to get involved and ready to share at least one challenge that you have faced as an SME leader.
This event was ran in collaboration with Ulster Business School. For more information on how they can support your business, please see the attached brochure.

09:30 Introduction to the session by Blaire Palmer
During this introduction, Blaire will deliver a brief overview of who she is, and what the workshop will entail.
09:40 Group discussion: sharing best practices and lessons learned
Are you able to delegate more responsibilities to your team, or do they struggle to take the initiative? Do you have time for strategising, or are you bogged down in the day-to-day operations of the organisation?
Is this really what leadership is meant to be?
During this thought-provoking group discussion, you will be encouraged to collaborate with your peers and discuss your experiences, challenges and lessons you have learnt as an SME business leader.
10:00 Case study analysis
In this part of the workshop, Blaire will present case studies that challenge the traditional beliefs and misconceptions of what good workplace leadership is. Blaire will also address the common issues that you may face as an SME business leader.
Learn how to develop your leadership strategies as Blaire sheds light on the practical solutions you can implement to rise above these challenges.
10:50 break
11:10 Critical friend model: developing strategies
Blaire will approach this session using the ‘Critical Friend’ analysis model. Be prepared to put your thinking cap on as you will be critically assessing some of the leadership challenges that were raised during the earlier discussions.
You will be broken into smaller groups, to give you the chance to have open and transparent conversations with your fellow SME business leaders. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinions and challenge other perspectives. The aim of this session is to help you gain new knowledge, insights and potential solutions on how you can develop your leadership approach long term.
12:00 actions
Each group will summarise their findings during the discussions. This will be your opportunity to discuss what key takeaways you have acquired, and how you can put these learnings into practice.
12:20 Final Q&A
This will be a complete open-floor discussion. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have felt hesitant to ask during the workshop discussion.
